Today, on 3 October 2008, Deputy Director of the Government Office for European Affairs Gregor Krajc signed, together with Minister of Finance, Dr Andrej Bajuk, and representative of the Swiss Embassy Annegret Zimmermann, an Agreement on the implementation of a technical assistance project aimed at successful introduction of public control over auditors and auditing companies, improvements in accounting reports and counselling in the application of international standards regarding accounting reports.
The project will be implemented at the Ministry of Finance in collaboration with the World Bank, from October 2008 to September 2012. At the same time, Gregor Krajc and representative of the World Bank John Hegarty signed an Agreement on advisory services stipulating that the World Bank is to provide lecturers and technical assistance to the project.
The project, worth 1.5 million CHF, will be financed from the funds under the Slovenian-Swiss Cooperation Programme. In the framework of this Programme, Slovenia will be eligible to draw on a grant in total amount of 21,956,000 CHF (approx. 13,039,553 EUR) within a five-year period.
